WHAT IS FURRY?

Furries are people that have an interest in fictional anthropomorphic animals and that self-identify as a furry.  Unlike members of other fandoms who might dress up as a Stormtrooper or Superman, furries create characters for themselves named ‘fursonas.’  The costumes, called ‘fursuits,’ are often made to appear like a furry’s fursona.  A fursuit is not required to be a furry, and the majority of furries do not own one.  Many members of the furry community are creative people, including artists, musicians, writers and fursuit makers.
